PTD-DBM

Follicle Neogenesis Peptide

The only peptide shown to grow entirely new follicles

Overview

PTD-DBM inhibits CXXC-type zinc finger protein 5 (CXXC5), a negative regulator of the Wnt pathway in hair follicles. Korean researchers demonstrated that blocking CXXC5 led to de novo hair follicle neogenesis — growing new follicles in areas that previously had none. This is fundamentally different from reactivating dormant follicles.

Mechanism of Action

Competes with CXXC5 for dishevelled (Dvl) binding, freeing the Wnt/β-catenin cascade from inhibition. Combined with valproic acid (which also inhibits CXXC5), showed ~80% follicle recovery in animal models.

Pathway

CXXC5 inhibition → Wnt derepression

Key Benefits

De novo follicle neogenesis (new follicles)
Activates dormant stem cell populations
Works in areas with complete follicle loss
Complements GHK-Cu via same Wnt pathway
Cutting-edge — limited human data, strong animal results
